A few beauty buys…
I had a minor panic earlier this week in terms of my makeup. About 6 weeks ago, I decided to go a shade lighter with my MAC foundation for winter, taking me from an NW13 to NW10 (it’s like a science, honestly). Seeing as I’m not made of money, I don’t use MAC makeup every day (although I really wish I could afford such luxury) and instead I usually opt for Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse during the day if I’m not filming. I used to use shade Nude, then I went lighter around a year ago and changed to Ivory. The other day, I came to the conclusion that Ivory is STILL too dark for my skin (am I really that pale?!) so I decided to pop into Boots and pick up Porcelain, which is the lightest shade Maybelline produce for that foundation.
We all know what happens when I go to the drugstore, don’t we?
Yesterday, I watched Tanya Burr’s new makeup tutorial using a range of Revlon’s products (you can watch the video HERE). She opted to use the 24hr ColorStay foundation, and compared it to NARS Sheer Glow. Well, Tanya knows her stuff, so instead of picking up my Dream Matte Mousse, I ended up with Revlon’s 24hr Colorstay foundation in shade Ivory (their ivory looks a lot lighter than Maybelline’s, possibly due to the consistency. It’s the lightest shade Revlon do, so I’m sure it’ll be fine! Revlon offer 2 versions of this foundation – one for normal/dry skin and one for oily/combination skin. The latter is oil-free to ensure a matte finish. It’s music to my ears, so we’ll see how it does!
We all know what I’m about to say, right? It was 3 for 2 on makeup in Boots! Soooo since I’m not one to turn down a bargain, I also came away with a Revlon matte balm pencil in shade 225 (Sultry). Tanya used the bright red one in her video tutorial and it looked incredible on her, but I wasn’t sure it would look quite as flattering on me – so I’ve gone for a darker slightly more cherry/plum colour. I’m loving those shades at the moment! I’m so excited to try it, because it just looks like a massive crayon…
Finally I turned to Rimmel in search of a new nail polish. I found a gorgeous one in the Kate Moss Salon Pro range – it’s a dark purple colour and looks quite grungy… plus it’s called Punk Rock (shade 711) so it was calling my name! As soon as I finish this post I’ll be trying it out, it looks awesome! I find Rimmel’s range are one of the quickest to dry, which suits my lack of patience. I tend to last 5 minutes then grab the hairdryer to speed up the process!
That’s my purchases for today. I would show you a photo of my new cookie cutters that arrived this morning, but that would ruin the surprise when I actually bake with them… :)
