Behind A Screen: It’s Finally Here!
I feel like I’ve been talking about this short film constantly for the past 6 months. It’s definitely been at the forefront of my mind anyway! Today is the day that Behind A Screen goes live for the world to see.
I’ve spoken about it at length on countless occasions already, so I’m going to keep this post fairly short and sweet. The film can be viewed HERE – it would mean the world to me if you could share the link with your friends and loved ones. Although I’ve had my doubts through the whole process, I can genuinely say that I’m happy with the end result – and I really hope with all my heart that it makes a difference to someone somewhere. If I make even just one person think and decide not to post an awful comment online, then I’ve achieved what I set out to do.
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been involved with the project in some form or another – to my good friend Courtney who shot the footage and helped me get through those shooting days, and to Carly and Marina for being my extras. Those three girls have been my emotional rocks through this entire process; they’ve listened to me rant and rave when things haven’t gone my way or offered solutions when I’ve felt like I’ve hit a brick wall. Although we aren’t all going to be together next year, you’ve honestly got me through this qualification.
To my family who supported me in my decision in going back to college, and who have listened to me complain all year about my coursework and this film – thank you so much.
I also want to thank my other classmates for being so supportive about my idea – you’ve all been amazing and your feedback has meant the world to me.
To those of you who took the time to help me with my research, I can’t thank you enough for supporting my cause and for being so honest with your responses. Although reading some of the replies made me feel incredibly disheartened about the online world, it also proved that more needs to be done to tackle the issue. I hope that you are pleased with the outcome.
I’ve received an amazing amount of support online too, especially on Twitter and Facebook. Again, your time and support means more than you could ever know; I’ve been incredibly humbled by some of the messages and tweets I’ve received.
I really hope that you enjoy the film; maybe “enjoy” isn’t the correct word to use! Behind A Screen is designed to have an impact on the viewer, without using harsh shock tactics or sensationalising the potential effects of online bullying. I hope that you think it achieves this.
