Like a kid in a candy shop… or a make up shop.

June 22, 2015

I went into Superdrug last weekend to buy a sharpener for my kohl pencils. I should have spent £1.69 at the most. But we all know I go a bit crazy when I see make up…

At the moment I’m a bit obsessed with lipsticks. I feel like a lot of the colours I own are very similar or very daytime, and I’m having so much fun experimenting with eye colours (more on that later) that I thought I should branch out and invest in some new lip colours too. My absolute favourite brand for lipstick is MAC, but at the same time I’m not made of money! If you’re treating yourself, or only after one product, then fair enough.. but I’m all about quantity and variety! In terms of drugstore lipsticks I always used to go for Rimmel or Maybelline (to the extent that I have SO many different lipsticks from each brand) but recently I’m loving Revlon’s range. I bought a berry-coloured lipstick of theirs a few weeks ago which I’ve been wearing quite a lot, so I decided to try out some of their other colours.

One of my favourite looks that I’m wearing quite a lot at the moment is a really pale lilac/icy blue eye (typical of me, wearing wintry colours in summer!). I thought wearing an almost frosted-pink lip with it would look absolutely adorable! This is Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake – it goes on a little brighter than you’d think, but it’s still super cute. I will take photos of my favourite looks at some point soon… Not that I’m a make up artist or anything, total amateur here.

I’m also having fun wearing stronger lip colours than I’m used to with a darker eye. This is the Revlon Ultra HD lipstick in Dahlia – I haven’t tried this one out yet but it has reddish-brown undertones which I never ever wear, so we’ll see how it goes! I’m thinking a bronze/dark brown eye palette to compliment it :)

If you’ve seen any of my beauty haul videos this year, you’ll know that I’m absolutely obsessed with the brand Revolution that you can find in some branches of Superdrug. It all started when I was on the lookout for a purple eyeshadow to go with the pale lilac look I was talking about up there ^^ Revolution single colours are only £1, so I thought I’d give it a go – I’m not usually one for trying brands I’ve never heard of before, but I was honestly so impressed by the pigmentation. Since then I’ve bought 3 other eye palettes which have around 16 colours each (an absolute bargain at £4) and I’ve had so much fun trying out different colour combinations. I headed straight to their section of Superdrug and came out with the lot above…

That would be a contour kit for £3.50, a 32-shade eye palette at £8 and a £5 metallic foil eyeshadow.

Let’s kick off with the contour kit. I can’t really say much about contour, it’s something I generally don’t do for fear of getting it wrong. I’ve recently decided that my bronzer just wasn’t dark enough for it, which was why it wasn’t working for me! The Revolution contour kit comes in a few shades; I’ve gone for Fair, obviously. I haven’t tried it yet, although I’m tempted to film my first attempt for you guys. I’m always thinking my channel could use a bit more comedy.

I bought this eyeshadow purely out of curiosity. The idea is that you mix a few drops of primer with the eyeshadow in the little tray, then apply it. Again, this could be interesting to watch! They have a few shades available, including black, silver and emerald (the emerald shade looks GORGEOUS and I’ll be picking it up if the Rose Gold one I bought goes well!) No idea what kind of brush to apply it with…

This palette is just insane. £8 for 32 shades. I sat with my sister the other day and we came up with endless combinations to try! Pretty much every colour is shimmery and somewhat vibrant, so most likely not a daytime palette, but I can see me inventing nights out  just so I can try these out! My favourite shades before trying any are Peacock Dream (top row in the right corner) Copper Dream (bottom row, 2nd left) and Truffle (bottom row, 2nd right). So much excitement!

£30 lighter all in. But I did get my sharpener too! Xx
