Spring Favourites: Beauty!
It’s that time of year again; at the end of each season, I bring you 3 blog posts on my favourite products or items of the past 3 months. Kicking off proceedings for the end of spring 2016, it’s my beauty favourites!
First on my beauty spring favourites list is the Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser – it’s not the most inviting of names, but it’s one of the best cleansers I’ve ever used. I won’t go on about it too much, as I’ve written a review on it which you can check out HERE. It’s definitely on my list of items to re-purchase – although it lasts for ages, so it might be a while before I need to pick up another tub!
Next we have a product that I picked up a long time ago, but was a tad apprehensive about using. I picked up Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer as part of the Sugarglam Fairies gift set (I did an unboxing of all the items which you can read about HERE) but I’ve never been particularly competent with contouring! I bit the bullet and gave Hoola a go on a night out with the girls – and although my interpretation of contour is practically invisible to the more skilled among us, I was really impressed with the results. The bronzer now resides in my makeup bag with the rest of my essential items; I apply it using the little brush that comes with it, then blend it out using a Real Techniques Sculpting Brush.
Another new found love of mine is highlighting. Similar to contouring, I was slightly wary about applying white powder to my already pale face. When I first started dabbling in facial sculpting, I picked up a really cheap Contour Kit from Make Up Revolution – it turned out that the contour was a tad too dark for me, but the highlighter gives me a gorgeous dewy glow. I don’t like to go overboard with highlight; although, I’m currently obsessed with Jamie Genevieve and her style, so I’m gradually applying more and more! I apply my highlight with a Real Techniques Contour Brush – it’s small in diameter, so it doesn’t end up halfway down my face!
Onto one of the latest additions to my nail polish collection – my sister bought this for me recently as I’ve developed a love for metallics, particularly rose gold. I don’t have any other Models Own products, but I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of their range if their Chrome Rose shade is anything to go by. I’ve found it to be really durable, with 2 coats lasting up to a week without chipping. It also dries quickly, which is practically unheard of these days! The metallic finish once it’s dried is literally to die for – and who doesn’t love rose gold?!
Next up is a palette which you might have seen in my recent Make Up Revolution haul video (if you haven’t see the video, you can watch it HERE). I’m a massive fan of neutral eye looks for daytime, and the Salted Caramel palette is absolutely perfect for adding a little shimmer to a nude eye – if you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen some of my favourite looks using it! The names of the shades are incredible; in fact, they make you hungry just talking about them! At the moment, I’m absolutely loving Yum! (bottom right) as a base shadow and Caramel (bottom centre) blended into the crease, with a touch of Delicious (top left) in the inner corner for highlight. Having this palette does give you a chocolate craving just by looking at it, though!
Finally, we have an old favourite of mine which I’ve started using again recently. Every so often, I go through a phase of wearing a nude lip – and it’s back again! My absolute go-to lipstick for this look is my Kate Moss for Rimmel in shade 45 – it looks quite dark as a product but when wearing it, it seems so much lighter. I find Rimmel lip products so moisturising – for some reason, I don’t actually have that many of them. I think I need to go shopping!
That’s all for my beauty spring favourites – next up, we have fashion!
